Luxor Museum

We waited for the temperature to drop again in the evening before venturing out of the hotel. Even better, the Luxor Museum had airconditioning, yes !!! Took the caleche (horsecart), on the way there we passed Luxor temple, which looked different during the day.

Wanted to see the Sound and Light at Karnak Yemple that night, but had a splitting headache, so we just went for a horse-rise around the Karnak complex and headed back to the hotel for an early night.

Ramesseum, West Bank

Another day at the West Banks. We started off with Ramesseum.

Osiride Colums - statues of Ramses with arms bearing the crook and flail, signal the funeral nature of the temple.

Shattered head and shoulder of the huge colossus of Ramses lie in the second court

Hypostyle Hall Plant Capital-the roof is suppported by columns with patterns of papyrus and lotus plants symbolising the union of Lower and Upper Egypt

Thebes: Hatshepsut Temple

The Hatshepsut Temple at Deir al-Bahri is an extraordinary monument against a beautiful mountainous backdrop. I think you would agree.

West Bank Day1

Our tour guide picked us up at the Collosi of Memnon, which are the two enthroned statues of Amenhotep III. These are the first monuments to greet visitors as they enter the West Bank.

We then proceeded to the Valley of Kings where we visited the tombs of Rameses I, Rameses III and Tuthmosis III, all are beautifully preserved, some colourful, some deep into the depths of the earth.Difficult to imagine that these were constructed 3500 years ago! Unfortunately no cameras allowed in the tombs, so you have to take my word for it

Hot Air Balloon ride, West Bank

Today it is a 0500 start as we were supposed to see the sunrise on the West Bank on our hot air balloon ride.

Unfortunately Adam and Farah were not too impressed and screamed their little hearts out, by then it was too late as we had already taken off. Parachute anyone?

Managed to take a few snaps in between pacifying these two. nasib baik ada DVD of the flight

Aswan

We had dinner by the Nile, and a had nice sunset walk watching the fellucas sail past.

The next day we stopped by the Unfinished Obelisk which was left abandoned due to a flaw in stone.

It was then time to leave Aswan for Luxor and we past the HIigh Dam one last time on the way to the airport
